Hangin' out with the dudes
In Ueno
In the big city
Okay YouTube, Hikosaemon here
I've had a bit of a crazy weekend
I'm getting to know a lot of vloggers I've never met before
And I've just had a bit of a crazy night and I'm gonna go round the table and show you who I've been talking to
Starting out with AtomicboyX
AtomicboyX, otherwise known as Gregorio
Or Greg
A recent arrival in Japan, so if you want to know the whole story about what it's like just coming to Japan and going through that
His videos show how he did it a month ago, in many ways exactly what it was like for me
So I really loved watching those
Also if you're interested in the gay scene in Tokyo, or that sort of aspect of Japan vlogging, here is your man
I'm also at Temple University in Japan which is an English college campus in Tokyo
It's got a good program so you should go and check it out
Yeah, and all sorts of things - the study thing,
And how long have you been here now? You've been here a few months?
I've only been here one month
NOOB!
I'm a total noob
There's a lot of people who come here as a study abroad so they're only here for one semester
And there's also people who come here to finish the rest of their degree or come here freshman for a four year degree with Temple University
How long are you gonna stay, Greg?
It's at least two, three years hopefully
Oh wow, okay...
And while we're here...
This man, the man who brought us all together!
Well...
Myargonauts, as the main channel, and also taishajason is the other one you've got going?
Yep, taishajason and myargonauts, yep!
Well, thank you for coming out and showing me your city a little bit
Not at all, not at all, in fact...
If I can just flip it back around and do a little bit of an introduction
A lot of people ask me "how can I get to Japan?"
And of course an airplane is generally the best way
It's an island country
You can swim although I recommend going to Korea if you want to try that
But, in terms of coming here for things to do while you're here
There's all sorts of ways of coming, but the one that I really nearly did myself
I was very lucky that I found another job
But one way I recommend for people who don't necessarily speak Japanese
But who want to just check out Japan as a cultural experience
Especially if you've finished college
Is the JET Program, which is a really great option
It gives you lots of time and whenever anyone asks me about that
Here is the "Guru" in Japan
He's been on JET for five years
Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you said I'd been on YOUTUBE for five years
No, you've been on JET for a long time
Yeah, I have
Even as JET people go, you know the Program as well as anyone can know it, right?
Well, I know a lot about it. If I don't know the answer, I know other people who do
And amongst other things, he's also from a small town in Japan
That's right, it's very rural, I'm from Shimane, this is the flag of Shimane
That's the flag of Shimane? Wow
So actually, I haven't been back to Tokyo since 2004!
So it's been a long time since I've been back in the city
Back to civilization
But it's a great place to come, you should all come to Tokyo for a visit ONCE in your life, at least once
So among other things, if you want to watch sumo, this guy puts up some sumo commentaries which are pretty good to watch
I like watching those and sometimes leave comments on those
Also lately doing movie reviews, he does good movie reviews as well
The man is a movie information database
I know a lot about movies, and I'm gonna have a new sumo channel starting in March
For the Osaka Basho so look for more information on that in March
What is the name of the channel gonna be?
It's gonna be a secret right now
Oh, okay, that is the name of the channel, "itsgonnabeasecretrightnow", go there now and SUBSCRIBE!
But first of all before he goes on to other people I have to say that Hiko is the man
Because his videos are so well put together, and so well edited
Yeah, don't give me money
Later!
But seriously, you live in Japan as long as I do and really start to envy people who can communicate effectively in Japanese
It's just jealousy every time I watch one of his videos
And the camera that he's holding right now, I want it
He's a ***, but a good ***
And I was really happy to meet him tonight and for him to show me a good time
Excellent, it's been a pleasure meeting you too man
So going round in order around the table, next man is a new video blogger
And a video blogger who studies other video bloggers interestingly enough
Yeah, I'm going to be making a documentary on it very soon
I have my own channel which is "radrey", check it out, it's r-a-d-r-e-y
My real name's Radley so it's sort of a Japanese thing
Anyway, I recommend that you check them out there
And I'm a TUJ student like Greg here
I recommend that those who don't want to join the JET Program and they don't have a bachelors' degree go to TUJ
It's a good place, and a good University to see Tokyo
There are a lot of opportunities here
So what's your vlog about, like, what are you talking about on your vlog
My vlogs right now are just very generic, because a lot of my friends an family wanted to see me and my life in Tokyo
So right now that's what they're all about, so you're welcome to check it out
There's three of them so far
I'm very, I'm ***
You're going to put your documentary on your channel?
Yes! I'm going to put it on YouTube as well
Well, that's going to be one to watch so yeah, definitely, go and check out radrey
A channel to watch, an up and coming Japan vlogger
And finally, a man I've met a couple of times and actually we're a bit of a mutual admiration society
When I did my first video, I talked about this guy
On my first ever Vlog which was nearly a year ago, coming up soon!
And likewise, when he started making vlogs, or actually when you started making V-logs
Yes
He was good enough to mention me as well
And yeah, we finally caught up for the first time
Another student in Japan
But also someone who studied Japanese seriously for a long time
Is currently going for the big...
Yes
Level 1
Ikkyu Baby!
I've been through that trauma and I've blocked it out from my memory
So you're gonna have to ask this guy what it's like
I first started watching your vlogs before I actually started vlogging myself
And I just said holy ***, this white guy knows his Japanese
From the second you opened your mouth on YouTube, so I subscribed and from there it just kinda snowballed into what it is now
Which is quite awesome
So yeah, and you're in Japan now, you were actually vlogging from Canada before but now you're in Japan
How long have you been in Japan now?
A half a year now, just over half a year
How has your half a year in Japan been?
How has half a year in Japan been?
What can I say, how can I describe it? Watch my v-log and you'll see
It's good stuff
You're happy in Japan? Miserable? Fed up and want to go home?
Nah, I don't wanna go back, I like it here right now
Give me some maple syrup!
That's all there is for Canada, it's really all there is is maple syrup, I swear to you
You heard it here, you don't have to go to Canada now
No, just import it, or pay like 20 bucks for it at a store
It's maple syrup, you can put it on whatever you want
And that's Canada for you
Yeah, he made me try it with french fries tonight, I'm really angry with him about that...
This guy...
Well, this guy..
Well, the one who brought us all together tonight indeed is Jason
Full credit for getting us all together
It's great to finally meet up
Just because I type an email I get all the credit?
Yeah
But, I tell you, this is a really good crowd of people
We've had an excellent night chatting to each other
It's kinda a bit weird pulling out the cameras now but I want to because these are really cool people and you should really go and check these guys' channels out if you don't know about them
And, yeah, you know, we've got a great community over here
Good people in Japan and this is why so go and check them out
And ah, keep watching this channel too, if you don't mind...
Peace!
And now he's filming me with his camera too, it's disturbing
And we're really scaring all the Japanese people around us
But we're gonna eat dessert now so peace out, seeya later
