What a big big present!
Taw --daw!!
(Laughter off screen--I don't get it! Why? Why? Go ahead, give me your line--more laughter)
What a big big present!
Taw--Daw!!
What a big present!
Taw--Daw!! Taw--Daw!!
I don't get it.
I'm doing a visual representation of out of the box thinking about presents for the holiday
for people with disabilities and seniors.
Well, technically, you're still in the box.
Oh, yeah. I'll fix that. Here you go. Taw-Daw!! Out of the box thinking about holiday
gifts for seniors and people with disabilities.
Now I get it.
So what makes a great gift for seniors or a person with disabilities is the same thing
that makes a gift great for any other person. It's something that you really, really want
or something that you really, really need. And a lot of times seniors and people with
disabilities have a desire and a need for concepts of independence, safety, and convenience.
And you almost substitute the word easy. Wouldn't it be great if the people you love could do
things as easily as they used to do them?
So think outside of the box this season. Whether it is something as simple as little gadgets
like this lever that fits on the arm of any incliner and increases the lever and makes
it easier to use. Or things like this Handi Bar which is a grab bar for the car making
it easier to get in and out of the car. Whether you're doing something structural in the house,
a ramp or a lift or extra handrails or putting more grab bars up in the bathroom or better
yet getting a gift certificate for professional evaluation to make sure that what is happening
is actually what is needed and what is going to meet those needs and desires.
You can do so much to reduce the barriers in someone's home and that would be a terrific
out of the box idea.
I was recently on a radio show and I was a guest along with a person from the American
Red Cross who talked about some terrific ideas all the way from remembering to donate blood
this season, which helps people you don't even know to gifts that the Red Cross has
that you can make in someone's name that helps people across the globe. There was another
person there with a company that provides people to run errands. And lot of times no
matter what you do structurally to a house, you still need people to do things for you.
So whether it' a professional who's running errands and going to the store , putting up
Christmas lights or any number of things or whether your giving gift certificates for
that kind of thing for your family members that's another terrific out of the box idea.
So share the news and share the video this year. Think out of the box for your holiday
present for people with disabilities and seniors who are trying to age in place.
