ANGELA: I'm visiting a training company in East Kilbride to visit some young
people who today are starting their apprenticeship in engineering and it's a great way to
mark Scottish apprenticeship week. MEGAN: Basically we are starting our first day of training
so everything is still new to me
and it's quite exciting.
Well this is my first day back. I was last August
for six months
doing my level 2. It's quite tough for me because I'm a bit older than most apprentices. Going back into
training and back into an environment with
guys just out of school
is quite challenging at first
but I've settled in after a couple of months.
I'm enjoying it now.

to know that it's a better alternative to going to university.
Some people are academic, some people aren't and
I think the apprenticeship is a genuine alternative. MEGAN: Modern apprenticeships are
really important because
if we move on to a different job
the employer can see from us that we've got the knowledge but we've also got the hands
on experience from things and the fact
that you're employed as well as
physiol person is growing
scores of tag is certainly is absolutely imperative head of the james beard and
tell young people tail cadence until employers abatement value and importance
all the pain is so it's been crazy can really it gives young people admit they
start to accuse
