Thank you very much for selecting me as a laureate of the Kyoto Prize.
I can only say that I am delighted to receive such a prestigious prize.
I understand that this prize was created for the purpose of advancing the greater good of humankind and society.
It makes me very happy to know that the selection committee believes that I have lived up to the objectives of the prize,
and I hope that I can continue to do so.
I would like to say to up-and-coming theatrical performers
that they should first work to develop a deep appreciation for what it takes to advance their skills,
and then devote as much time as possible to practice and training.
In addition, they should approach their careers in a spirit of pure and wholehearted commitment.
That is my message to them.
