I'm running for this position because after being in academia for more than 30 years,
I feel that I've gained a lot of experience. And I would like to use that experience if
I'm elected to be a voice for audiologists, as well as to continue moving the profession
forward. And there are a number of issues that I think need to be addressed. The first
being the AUD Education Model. There are aspects in the model, such as the clinical externship
year and the clinical preceptor training, that I think need to be considered and perhaps
changed to improve our model of education. The second issue that's been around for a
while is the Ph.D. shortage. And I think it's imperative that we make sure there are sufficient
individuals in the pipeline, not only to educate the future audiologists, but also to conduct
the applied clinical research of our profession. The third issue that I want to mention today
is undergraduate education, and that's something I think we need to continue discussing to
make sure that we give our students the best possible foundations for their graduate education.
And there are lots more issues, but no more time, so I thank you for your support.
