Previous episode…
I thought I'd drive to Montmartre, #LifeTest
there's a hill there. #LifeTest
The Alps is a big hill or so, #LifeTest
or so I've heard.
Taking a sunset shot in the Alps
or in Montmartre, what's the difference?
We just need a sunset shot then we can check into our hotel
- um, in the Alps.
If the weather report about the snow was lying, of course.
Whether the sun had set was in question, kind of.
But at least we got to see the big Lego construction arch thing.
I've always wanted to do this, go around the Arc
... de Triomphe.
What matters now is that we just triomphed the Arc of Triomphe.
"I want get in some
and finish that
and then we have some petit pois and pouletpu, pouletpois?
pouletpu? Et vavavous.
Oh well, it kinda looks like we missed the sunset.
Now the only option left is to get sunrise
that kinda looks similar to sunset, doesn't it?
Luckily I've got this USB cable
hooked up to the car to keep my phone alive,
because it's the only camera I've got.
Then a thought:
how about doing some iPhone food photography to keep one occupied.
We've still got some French food and a lot of time to burn.
"Oh,
they were macarons.
That's the best one.
Ok that's not working...
I wonder why the food's like this?".
The weather was simply awful.
The only option: a bit of R&R.
Hopefully the weather would be better in the morning.
When it's that cold outside this feels like a 5-star boutique hotel.
Maybe 6-star because as it turned out,
it really was quite cold outside.
"it’s snowing,
I think it's almost sunrise".
"Wake up, wake up!"
"We need to take the sunrise shot and..."
"Otherwise we can't go back".
I drove the car around to get a better shot,
and then that was it.
This was where the final shot of
C'était un Rendezvous was shot.
What an amazing place to take my shot.
"Wow".
The scene was quite magical
surreal, even.
I've never been to Paris and it looked like this before.
"How about we integrate some nice...
... Elamby, could you move just a little bit.."
The color temp of the halogen headlights is around the 3k mark.
This gives a slightly warmer feel to the color.
Normally sunrise would have a lower color temp too,
also giving some nice warm colors.
But it's cloudy,
so the color temp is much higher than it should be.
You can either shop it,
or use gels over the headlights
to bring the color temps closer.
I chose the former because it's just too bloody cold.
Judging by how the clouds have gone from dark to light,
this is our sunrise
this is it.
I can smell the wood burning on a fire in our chalet hotel place.
That's it for this Paris challenge.
As freezing as it was,
that was an amazing way to end this trip,
overlooking Paris,
a very pretty city,
even more so when covered in snow.
But the most important thing is that we completed a challenge,
and we were happy
that is,
because we'd totally forgotten about those highway closures.
Luckily,
the car interior makes for a reasonably decent bed when you really need one.
"Treat me like your dad.
And I don't mean going like this: 'uhh dad'...
What I mean is, do as I say,
don't do as I do.
What we've done in the videos,
dragging someone on a snowboard with this car,
is dangerous.
Don't do it at home,
or outside of your home.
Stay safe,
stay indoors,
away from the snow, it's bloody cold.
See ya".
