Sometimes it seems like the police round the world never learn. If you're going to beat
somebody in public, someone's going to record it on their mobile phone.
This time it's the police in Long Beach, California who are accused of using excessive force and
brutality. The four officers surrounded 46-year-old Porfirio Santos-Lopez while he was on the
floor. They hit him several times with a baton and eventually get him with a stun gun as
well.
"They keep tasing him. They keep on tasing him, dude."
His family say that he had to be taken into hospital for surgery on the injuries he sustained.
Police on the other hand say they have CCTV from a nearby shop of Santos-Lopez punching
an unidentified man and that he was violent and out of control when they arrested him.
They also say he seemed irrational and competitive and that he kicked out at the officers but
does that justify repeatedly striking him with batons and tasing him? The police say
the case is under investigation.
