The Past that Has Not Passed
Forced to Serve “Sir”
The Indonesian Army Forces arrested me in 1978.
I was surrender to save my mother and father.
I was confined in the military post for 4 years, and was forced to serve them.
I called them “Sir”.
The Sirs always change, but I was never replaced.
When I was set free, there was no one help me face the problem.
They despised me and always laughed at me.
Mother and father said, “Don’t think too much, we are not angry, that was war...
Let’s go to the farm to plant.” My father and mother make me strong.
My first husband was arrested, and I don’t know where he is until now.
I got married again in order to support my family.
Now we have 8 children.
I told my story to my children...
so that they know the history of our family.
