Hello! My name is Megan Adams and welcome to my tutorial
on Pinterest. If you aren’t sure what Pinterest is, you sure will by the
session. Pinterest is an online bulletin board. Its’ a place
where you can Pin webpages, pictures, recipes
home decorating ideas, clothing, just about anything really.
The best thing to me about Pinterest is you don’t have to know what you are looking for.
Say you want to cook something different for dinner you can just click on food and see tons of pictures.
Instead of having to read all about something first, with Pinterest
you see the picture so you can quickly decide if you want more info
or not. If you do have something in mind you can also search.
It’s user friendly and it’s pretty much amazing.
So how do you sign up? It’s free. If you have a Facebook, Twitter or just
an email address it’s super simple. You just click on the link to
sign up, fill it out, and there you go. Once your in you’ll bee
Once you’ve logged in, this is what your main screen will look like.
I’ll show you a few different parts of the screen that will help you navigate
through Pinterest. You have your button over here with the three lines
once you click on that you can see the different catagories you can
choose from when you want to go searching for things. If you want to
do a specific search you will type in the search area right here and click
either enter, return, or click the magnifying glass and that search
for your specific needs. Once you go over to the right you’ll search for you specific needs.
see your picture if you have connected with Facebook, Twitter, or added your own picture.
You should definitely see your name. You can click on that.
That’s where you can get to all your boards, pins, likes, friends,
following people and your settings. This is a main
toolbar because this is how you are going to see everything that
you have pinned.
Navigating through Pinterest is really simple. Once you are on your main page
you can go over and search. I usually like to go in Education
since I am a teacher it is just kind of second nature for me. So here I can just
look through all the different ideas. You may find something that you like or you may not.
Or it might spark an idea that you want to search deeper and then
you can type that into the search bar and look for it that way.
Once you’ve found something to pin what you need to do is
scroll your mouse over to Pin It and click on it and pick
a board and all you need to do is
hit Pin It and there you go you have it on your board and you will find that
back up under your name under your boards, your pins, or whichever your board
you pinned that to.
The final thing I’m going to show you which also makes Pinterest amazing is
you can find anything on the internet and pin it to your Pinterest board.
I’m on Youtube right now and looked up a TED Talk I really like
this TED Talk, The Power of Introverts so I’m going to Pin It so I
don’t have to keep Googling it or going back to Youtube, I can always find under my board.
So, what you’ll do is you’ll look for the “share” button and then
you will look for the "P" for Pinterest
click on that and that will bring up your Pin It and you’ll pick your board
and let's say I want to pin it to my
IDT Classes. Pin It and next time I
to Pinterest it will be there for me.
