Please find this product at http://absupply.net/ This video is to bring you a closer look at
the Pemko 94518SN Threshold. The 94518 is simply representative of a confluence of everything
about this threshold. So this threshold is specifically an adjustable aluminum top pardon
me and an adjustable aluminum top threshold with a vinyl moisture barrier here. It is
5" wide or 4-7/8" with an oak trim on the back, a 5 degree bevel. It is compatible with
accepting extensions from 3/4", 2" and 3" in a matching satin nickel finish. Let's go
over the dimensions real quick. As you can see from the image below this video which
shows the dimensions I am referring to, it is indeed 4-7/8" wide. At its minimum adjusted
dimension it is 1-1/8" and that is how it comes from the factory. Over here it is a
1/2". You get a 1/4" adjustment on this so you would be able to bring it up to an 1-3/8".
It has a wood sub strip; pine would be my guess on what that is. Again that is an oak
trim on the back. You can also get this with a, and this projection on the trim is 7/16"
which is included in the 4-7/8" width dimension. You can also get that in the 1/4", it is called
the "NT" for narrow trim, so that would change that. Satin nickel finish and is available
in different finishes as well. Your aluminum finish, dark bronze, you can get these in
gold as well. This is a very nice model because it features this vinyl moisture seal or barrier
which you can actually buy separately should in time that fatigue, and it does. I've had
with moderate use, you will start to see a fatigue at about 10 years just because of
the traffic going over it, but it is important because this adjustable feature, obviously
adjusts up and down and the inside of this "U" shaped housing rests against the inserted
vinyl moisture barrier so it is very important to have it there. Adjusting nuts are here,
you can see them all the way down. They are not something that can be modified, you can't
remove them, and you can't buy extras. It is a one way sort of manufacturing process,
if you cut into one of them, you damage the threshold beyond use so you will want to make
sure that you are getting the threshold size that you need from the factory or knowing
that you are within reason of being able to cut it down say 2" from either end you would
be in real good shape. This is just but one example of a residential adjustable top threshold
from Pemko, who is a full line manufacturer of all things weather stripping related. And
it is very common to buy that extension as well if 4-7/8" is not ideal that part number
is "EXT" it stands for extension. Then 3/4 or 2 or only the number 3 and then SN after
it and that will get you to the extensions. So there is no fasteners that are included
with a residential threshold like this, there is no counter sinks for fastening it down,
as residential thresholds are typically used as an integral part when the frame is manufactured.
so they will have the two jambs or the mulleins and the header and then this is physically
staples or nailed or otherwise fastened directly to those jambs or mulleins right into the
wood right here. And that's how these are installed, so people that are going to buy
these are generally people that are manufacturing a door and a frame or doors and frames. You
will have people that are replacing an old one, but they usually have to figure out how
to fasten it down and that is generally through the face provided you are not removing the
frame. 5 degree slope on here and that is to help drive water away and these are used
in conjunction with some sort of a door bottom. You know maybe a door sweep with a drip cap
or maybe an automatic door bottom, or maybe a stile that is stapled to the bottom of the
door that would have fins that come down and rest on top of this. These adjustable top
thresholds are very common because they allow you to get that exact level that you need
to adjust for a sill that might be slightly out or accommodating an undercut, but keep
in mind that you are at an 1-1/8" at a minimum so you will have to design your door if it
is a new installation to be compatible with this. You are probably going to want to be,
it depends on what is happening under the sill, but you will want to be somewhere greater
then an 1-1/8". Real nice quality item by Pemko. If you have any questions on the Pemko
94518SN aluminum top, because this is aluminum versus wood, you can also get an adjustable
wood top or any other Pemko product, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you very
much.
