hello everyone
probably you can hear from my voice that I'm still very sick
I keep coughing all day long all night long and I'm not even getting a good sleep
but anyway I filmed this video a few days ago
about the best and worst of the art supplies that I have
and so it just needed a voiceover and I decided to do it anyway even if I'm sick
and probably my voice is even more annoying thank usual but however
let's just jump into it
and first thing I want to say I'm not buying many art supplies because those are the ones
that I have
and that I'm showing here, that I use in the videos are the art supplies that I've collected
in the years
some come from the magazines, some I bought them, some from the dollar store
various places or even art places but it's something that I've been collecting for years
so the first thing that I want to show you are those calligraphy pens that I got from
ebay
and I love them because they work really good and they were super cheap but I think that
they have nothing to envy to other professional ones
they come with different nibs but the one that I like the most is the bigger one and
I have it always in place
and those were very cheap and if I can remember the place where I got them and the price that
they were I'll put it on the screen or in the description below
another thing that I really really like are those waterbrushes
and those are also from ebay and they were super cheap but I especially love the bristles
because I always had disgusting brushes
they would ruin my drawings, they would ruin the way I would paint and I wouldn't even
notice that the major problem were the brushes
besides I'm vegetarian since I was 13 years old and when I use the brushes I always think
where they came from
while those are, the bristles are like plastic but they do not feel like plastic
those are great
and I heard that some of you are going to buy them or already are using them and you
love them as well
I didn't experience any leaking from the water tank even though they are so so cheap and
they come in a package of three
where you have the bigger, the medium and the smaller brush
the small one is very good for tiny details and for miniature drawings
and those I would really racommend you to try out as I said I will always leave a link
in the description if I can find where I got them
but one of you DoryStories told me that she found them in a shop so I mean nowadays they
are everywhere
the ones that I'm showing you here are just from an ebay shop but they are being very
popular
the bristles are so soft, it's incredible and they are so far the best brushes I have
ever had
another item that I really like are of course those watercolors, I never tried really expensive
watercolors so I don't know what's the difference but
they were 1,70 euro for 12 colors and they work just fine
I've nothing bad to say about them except that the green... there are 2 greens
the dark green and the light green and the dark green doesn't work
you know when you let the watercolor dry and then you pick it up with water, you revive
it with water and they work again
but with this dark green it just doesn't work
it's like an another thing, it's like an acrylic
it's the only problem with them but for the rest they blend really good, they mix good
and they react with water very good
and you know for 1,70 euros they last a very long time because I never pick them directly
from the tube
I usually put them somewhere, let them dry and then I pick them from there and I feel
like in that way they last a lot longer
Those are my favourite and only actually watercolour pencils and those are from Faber Castell
and I got them from an art shop... Marts ... art something like that and I definitely leave
the link in the description for those and
they are a very good range of colors, maybe there are a few pinks, maybe one
and I especially use them for drawing details but even larger pieces like I drew in my how
to draw a realistic muffin video using only those
and you can also pick the color directly from the pencils themselves
and I'm definitely losing my voice
and of course my Lyra art pens that I talked about in various videos at this point
they are 50 colors and they are absolutely beautiful
I love all the shades you have of one single color like the blue and the green
those are supposed to be water soluble and they sometimes work other times they don't
and I think it really depends from the paper that I'm using and from the amount of water
that I'm using it's really important
and I even have a swatch of those 50 colors that I've made and I will link it in the description
below if you want to see how they blend
and my favourite colors in here are the gold and the silver
I've to edit out all my caughing
anyway those are the Derwent pencils that I've even showed you in my art studio tour
video and those are good because they have
and those are good because this set would include not only all the pencils that you
have seen but also some tools from drawings
it includes those 8 pencils and 2 of them are watersoluble, the blue ones, they are
great even if you're just starting out with only this kit you have all you need
because it also includes some tools, an eraser, a water brush
which honestly I got some problems with it because, with the ones I got from ebay, super
cheap, the bristles even if I used them a lot the bristles look just untouched
while with this brush that came with this kit from Derwent the bristles just got ruined
really fast and anyway in this kit you have also
that cotton stick to blend the pencil and make shadows and stuff like that so I really
appreciate it
I think if you are a beginner you will really appreciate this kit and it is actually how
I started one year ago
when I wanted to come back at drawing tbis was the first thing that I've got for going
back to draw
so yeah it's really well done and I also got this one from ebay
of course my stable in my art favourite will always be the liquitex gesso and this is a
kind of prep for your canvas
it's like a white base to draw on with every mixed media that you want to use and I use
that a lot with my
art journal and I didn't really use it with any canvas yet just because I think the canvas
is too big and I don't want to
waste the product
it's something that you definitely need if you want a smooth surface
And now I'm going to talk about the worst of art supplies that I ever got
and those are just brushes
now the blue ones and the pink ones I don't even think that they have a name and if they
do it doesn't even matter
because they are from the chinese shop and they were very cheap
I think the pink ones were like 20 brushes for one euro, the bristles are so bad that
you can't do anything with them
because if you use them with the color they just pull away the color, they are terrible,
I will never use them again I think
even though they look very used because they are the only ones that I ever had before the
water brushes
if you have to invest on something the first thing you have to invest on in art are the
brushes
I think those are the main thing
and another kind of brushes that I got are those from Primo and these are from the art
shop so I kind of trusted that
even though Primo is a brand for kids art supplies but being from an art shop I thought
they would maybe still work
anyway that's it for now
those are my best and worst of art supplies that I've got untill now
and I hope you found something that you were maybe looking for or you wanted some advice
on
and if you want to leave me a comment or ask me anything please do so in the comment section
down below
and don't forget to share and subscribe because it really helps me a lot
and I hope you have a great day and to see you next time and I hope you stay well untill
then and I'll see you then bye!
