no manufacturer can not escape the vintage wave who did not finish sweep
The R NINE T was born
roadster combines a clean neo-retro style and Bavarian technology
and a strong potential of personalization
no fuss with the NINE T, all clad sobriety.

Round headlight rims and spokes are mandatory
as well as exhaust dual output low position Akrapovic blasted stainless steel
distilling a coaxing tone.
The mat combines brilliant, saddle features double stitching and steering
column features a riveted plate, "old style."
The dashboard includes still a digital display
between the two counters needle,
which provides a lot of information: clock, gear, 2 partial trips, average speed,
average and instantaneous consolidated, low fuel mileage countdown with,
witness maintenance. The two levers are adjustable in spacing.
The NINET was designed for easy customization.
Its trellis frame is adjustable to allow 3
configurations with a removable rear loop duo,
solo seat cover and finally a "short cut" version
that requires approval by the owner
because the entire subframe with lights and Support plate is removed.
Solo versions, silencer Akrapovic titanium option can be mounted
either in high or low position.
You can also choose to replace the wheels 5.5 inches wide by 6 inches,
to be approved of course,
while the engine wiring harness and separate
lighting will allow all the fun to change lights and turn signals.
The dedicated accessories catalog provided by BMW will do the rest to grab the wallet.
At least for once in BMW,
do you not spend much on technical options,
there are only 2 : heated grips
and electronic alarm.
Not really retro, chassis certainly forsake
the Telelever at the front but inherits the inverted fork of the S 1000 RR (but not adjustable)
and Brembo 4-piston radially mounted on the dual disc front 320 mm
2-piston floating caliper on the disc 265mm rear.
ABS is standard, the rear suspension system
trusts the Paralever monoshock with adjustable preload.
BMW did not need to go far to get the engine
of the NINET, the classic 1170 cm3 flat twin
air cooled and oil from the old RT and GS
doing nicely to remind one of R 32 1923.
Always developing 110 hp at 7750rpm
and 119 Nm at 6000 rpm , it was seen to pass
the gauntlet of approval Euro4 in 2016 and final drive ratio was shortened
to stick to the spirit roadster.
Happy in the early rounds, and available on
a wide square plan, it is surprisingly soft for a twin and meets always present.
This allows not to play too much of the 6-speed gearbox
with shaft drive that do not like to be abused.
Accessible to small jigs thanks to its low seat 785 mm,
the NINE T still weighs 222 kg without full trank.
But that does not penalize too maneuverability,
low center of gravity and wide handlebars helping
The seat is thin in width and thickness, but its edges
are prominent and after 200 km,
The comfort suspension compensates,
but in the back it will harden the damper
to enjoy the dynamic qualities of the chassis
equipped with a steering damper and well served by Metzeler Interact Z8 tires.
Lively but stable, never vicious,
the NINET is very easy to take from one corner to the other and easily forgives
too optimistic allowing course corrections limit.
We regret even more unbalanced braking :
too strong up front, with a long stroke and died lever biting happens once,
too light in the rear, where the ABS is touchy.
Although born at the right time and most importantly,
the NINE T marks the entry of BMW in the world
of motorcycling passion and personalization, building on more simplicity and less leapfrogging.
Too bad she do that pay as much attention to detail
and of course quality equipment,
but did nothing exclusive.
