A NOTCHED TROWEL SO THAT IT'LL SET PROPERLY WHEN YOU LAY IT.
THE PROBLEM IS, IF YOU'RE INSTALLING MARBLE,
IT'S ALMOST TRANSLUCENT IN PLACES, AND YOU'LL ACTUALLY
SEE THAT VARIANCE COME THROUGH IN THE COLOR.
SO YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU SMOOTH OUT THE MORTAR.
THAT WAY, WHEN IT'S INSTALLED,
IT'S PERFECTLY EVEN, AND IT LOOKS A LOT BETTER.
THERE WAS A LAST-MINUTE CHANGE TO THE DESIGN PLAN.
