In this video we are going to show you how to clean the corona wire on a DR 110 CL drum
unit in a Brother HL4040 CN or similar model Printer.
Start by opening the front cover of the printer by pressing the cover release latch on the
top of the cover. Access the four toner cartridges by pulling
up on the handle to slide out the drum unit which holds the cartridges.
Remove the toner cartridges, by lifting up on the handle and pulling the cartridge out.
Lift out the drum unit by placing the latch in the upright position, and removing the
unit. The corona wire is located under the protective
cover. Open the cover by pressing on the tabs at
either end of the cover. Press down on the green tab and slide it back
and forth 5 -- 10 times to clean the wire. Place the green tab back and close the cover.
Repeat this for all four corona wires. Note, the front wire may be a little difficult
to access due to the drum unit handle. Set the drum unit back into the printer and
place the latch in the down position. Press the toner cartridge back into the drum
unit, pressing down on the handle until it clicks into place.
The tabs on the drum unit are colour coded. Make sure the cartridges go into the proper
location. From front to back this is Black, Yellow, Magenta, & Cyan.
Slide the drum unit back into the printer until you hear the click, and make sure the
handle is in the upright position. Close the front cover and the printer is ready
to use.
