Hi, on behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy at the Broadway Comedy Club here in
New York City. And today I'm going to talk about how to become a stand-up comic.
All right, what do you do when you're tired of your material? When you've become a really
good comedian now, and you're up there, and you've always done well with these jokes,
and suddenly they are not working anymore. Because you just suddenly lost your interest.
You don't care. I've heard so many times, this stuff is not funny. What happens when
you don't think your jokes are funny anymore? Tell you what to do my friend. Look out in
the crowd, look in their faces. Because you will see the newness in their face. They are
like anticipating and waiting for the next joke. They're paying the cover charge of two
and three minimum to come see you. Its like, say for example, I'm Kristen, Christmas...
Love it. I'm in my fourties, how could I still love Christmas? I like watching kids open
the present. Because in their mind its new. Ever seen a kid open a present and they are
like four or five years old? They go crazy. You can see it in their eyes. You recapture
the Christmas spirit. Same for birthdays, or whatever type of holiday you are celebrating.
Look in their eyes. You will see the newness of it. And you will go wow, that't right,
I love my jokes and I know what I'm doing.
