Paying tribute to a fallen soldier. Senior Airman Barbara Patton reports.
[Patton] US Army 1st Sergeant Blue Rowe had his life stripped away
by an insurgent suicide bomber on May 26, 2009.
1st Sergeant Rowe was a believer in teamwork and physical fitness,
so it's truly fitting that his brothers and sisters in arms would make this climb
a weekly tradition to honor him and what he believed in.
[male speaker] I think it is a good tradition. Number one, it keeps the NCO Corps intact
by representing another NCO who did a lot of tremendous work in the valley
for the people of Panjshir. Also, this is a team builder plus stress relief
exercise for us. [Patton] But they all share a camaraderie,
a sense of accomplishment and teamwork, something 1st Sergeant Rowe
would have been very proud to see.
