Safety officials want
to send a message to
teens this summer.
They say the time
between Memorial Day
and Labor day- is
statistically the
deadliest time of year
for young drivers.
"teens need to
know that when they
take the keys to a car
they assume the
responsibility for
their safety, the
safety of their
passengers, and also
the safety of those
they share the road
with, both other
drivers and
pedestrians, they
can't take this
lightly."
Records show that
nationwide, some
5-thousand teens die
in crashes every year.
That's 14 deaths
every day.
