Using cleaned, prepped pipes, spray on a coat of Valspar Royal Garnet and let it dry. Then
spray on a coat of Valspar Churchill Hotel Vanilla, and let that dry.
Using an 80-grit disc on a random orbit sander, distress the pipe, sanding through to bare
metal in a random pattern. Focus on areas that would naturally get wear, like areas
with texture or raised lettering.
Now mix two parts Valspar Cinnamon Cake paint to one part water, and use a foam brush to
dab paint around the threaded areas, and along random areas of the pipe, anywhere you want
that 'rusted' effect. While the paint's still wet, mist the areas with water until the paint
runs....dab away the excess water and let the pipes dry.
