Hey guys, its Anthony and, ahh, I've got enough subscribers now to try and actually make a
video telling you about who I am. I'm Anthony Vella and I'm a sergeant in the Army and I'm
also a father, as you all probably already know by now. You know I don't really have
a lot of experience speaking for what its like to be a father on the outside of the
Army, but I can definitely tell you a little bit about what its like being a father of
a young child in the Army and its definitely got its perks and its got its very difficult
times. You're always going to be spending a lot of time away from your family. Not just
your baby, but, uhh, also your wife or someone else you love, especially your friends, your
family back home. And then when you bring a baby into the mix, it adds a whole new dimension
because you can have your own little bundle of joy, and also, you can, ahh, you can also
have something you really love and not get to be around a lot. But the military is a
great thing because it does try to support you as much as they can. One of the ways that
I really try to show my love for my little one is by doing this channel and, ahh, also
getting to create "The Lion Tales" and all the cute little videos I get to share with
you guys. I'll show you a video, umm, of... of some of the things the Army gets to do
to, ahh, to make being a Dad in the Army kind of special. This is our "Donuts with Dad".
Alright, we are going to go see Leo. He's probably going to cry when he sees us. Lets
go. The Army daycare that Leo goes to decided
to put on a special where dads could come in and eat donuts with their babies. And this
all may not seem really significant on the outside, but what you have to take into consideration
is being a dad in the Army means that moments like this, you can take with you while you're
away from home for a year in Afghanistan or Iraq.
I'll get right back to this moment, but I'm going to take you back to my deployment so
can really understand why you need to make every moment special whenever you're a father
serving in the Army. Back in 2011, I was in Afghanistan, ahh, serving
as a medic for a route clearance company, and, ahh, and our job was to go out and find,
ahh, road side bombs, and, ahh, a lot of people would get hurt and you're always thinking
about your family back home, and all you have to hold onto are the memories of the things
you've shared with those that you love. This video, by no means, should discourage
you from wanting to pursue becoming a father in the military. It's only to educate you
on the reality of being a father in the Army and, ahh, but there's also a lot of good to
it, umm, and that's why I get to share this video of, ahh, "Donuts with Dad" that Leo
and I got to share together. Umm, I'll wrap up this blog with the remainder of this video
and I want to that you all for subscribing and, ahh, I appreciate all of the support
you guys give me and my family, and especially Leo the Lion.
I am asking you to please leave a comment if you have any questions, what-so-ever, about
being a father in the Army, what it's like to be in the Army, any questions you have
about Leo, I would love to respond to them and will do so very quickly. I love to interact
with all of our subscribers. I look forward to hearing what you guys think.
