I know that when I enroll in a class and I see what it is I think I'm going to learn,
and when it's actually what I wanted to learn, and above and beyond that,
then I feel very appreciative of the facilitation that was done to implement that process.
So it's because I'm getting what I need.
So that's why I think that they enjoy the class.
She gave us the flexibility to, kind of, apply our own content in some of the assignments, and also with the mini lesson.
So that was, again, very helpful to me because I could feel comfortable enough in my own content
and then try to apply it to this online class.
My beginning feelings were pretty fearful of the whole thing and, "Ugh, I don't see how I could make this work."
Because I didn't have a real strong technology background.
But I can kind of see past that now and I really have much more to explore there so that was really exciting,
to start to see that and feel more comfortable.
June has customized the assignments by making them learner centered;
everyone has the opportunity to prepare presentations, to design their own class,
they take their projects and they run with them.
So by putting it in the hands of the student, the student can make it her own,
and then individualize it the way she needs to.
And also June isn't rigid, so rigid that she sacrifices learning.
She's able to maintain a balance of creating guidelines for projects
but letting students push them in ways that they need to, to make them meaningful.
Professor Dodd has be able to help me focus on what it is that I want to do.
Originally, I knew that I would be creating a design document in her course and
I didn't really know exactly what, I don't think I knew at all what I was going to do.
However, because she gave us this opportunity, all this active learning, I was like, "I got it!"
I'm going to create a course, because I have a passion for learning styles and accommodating learning styles,
I'm really into a very comprehensive learning style model that I'm doing a lot of research on.
And I just have a passion for online, not just online learning, I love online learning,
I'm kind of addicted to it, I'm just like click click click click, I just love to be there.
Speaking for myself, I value the class because I see that what I learn in professor Dodd's class today,
I can translate directly into the classes that I'll be teaching tomorrow.
