This video shows how to set up your printer to use HP Connected services. HP Connected
is a free service to store, access, share, and print documents from any web-connected
device to your HP ePrint enabled printer.
To use HP Connected, your printer must be connected to the Internet through a wired
or wireless network connection. Because connecting your printer to a network is unique for each
system configuration, we will not provide those instructions here.
Before you can use HP Connected, you must perform a firmware update to your printer
to ensure that your printer has the most up-to-date functionality.
Your printer must be installed on the computer you are going to use to update the printer's
firmware. You must also be able to print to your LaserJet printer from that same computer.
First, check the firmware currently installed on the printer to determine if it needs to
be updated. To do this, print a configuration page.
From the printer's control panel, press OK to open the Setup menu.
Press the right arrow button to select Reports.
Press OK.
Press the right arrow to select Config Report.
Press OK.
The configuration page prints.
Next, go to HP's website to see if there is updated firmware for your printer. On your
computer, open the web browser of your choice.
Type www.hp.com/support into the browser's address bar and then press Enter on your keyboard.
From the HP support page, click where you live on the map.
Select the country where you live and your language from the list shown.
Click on Drivers & Downloads.
Click on the "Enter product name or number" text box.
Type LaserJet CP1525nw and press Enter on your keyboard or click Go on the page.
From the selection list, click on your printer.
Click the dropdown list and click to select your operating system. Then click Next.
Click the plus sign next to Firmware to view the latest firmware version available for
your printer.
Using the configuration page you printed earlier, find the Firmware Date.
Compare this date to the version number listed on the HP support page.
If the firmware date on the configuration page is the same as the firmware version number
on the HP support page, your printer is up-to-date and you can continue to the next step.
If your printer's firmware version is different from what is listed on HP's website, you
need to download the updated firmware and install it on your printer.
From the HP support page, click Download next to "HP LaserJet Firmware Update Utility."
Depending on your web browser, a prompt might open asking what you want to do with the file.
If you click Run, the file will download to a temporary folder and then run once the file
is downloaded.
If you click Save, the file will be downloaded to a folder you specify on your computer.
After it is saved, you can run the program any time you choose. In this video, we will
click Save.
Browse to the location where you want to save the file. Make sure you save the file somewhere
easy to remember so you can install it later. We saved the file to the Desktop.
The computer downloads the file to the folder you selected.
To find the file you just downloaded, click the Open Folder button if you used Internet
Explorer. If you used a different web browser, you will need to browse to the folder or location
where you saved the file.
Double-click the file to launch the HP Firmware Update Utility.
After the utility has extracted, click on the dropdown next to Select Printer to Update.
Select the HP LaserJet Professional CP1520 Series.
Click the Send Firmware button to transfer the updated firmware to the printer. Do not
turn off your printer during the update, this can damage the printer.
If prompted, click OK.
When the update is complete, you will see a smiley face on the page.
Click Exit.
Check the display on the printer to ensure that it is in a ready state and it is not
still being programmed.
Your firmware is now up-to-date.
Next, you need to enable your printer's web services. Web services must be enabled
on your HP printer in order to use HP Connected.
On your computer, open the web browser of your choice.
Using the configuration page you printed earlier, find the printer's IP address under Product
Settings.
Type the printers IP address into the browser's address bar and then press Enter on your keyboard.
If you receive a warning message about the website's security certificate, continue
to the website. Doing so will not harm your computer.
The printer's Embedded Web Server, or EWS, will open.
Click on the HP Web Services tab.
If Web Services is enabled, click Print Information Sheet.
If Web Services is not enabled, click Enable.
Within a few minutes, the Web Services information sheet will print.
Save the information sheet because it will be needed when you register for HP Connected.
When you register at HP Connected, you can print documents from any web-connected device,
print premium content from around the web with HP Printables, and receive printer status
alerts.
On your computer, open the web browser of your choice.
Type www.hpconnected.com into the browser's address bar and then press Enter on your keyboard.
Click Create Account on the top right of the screen.
Enter your name and email address in the text fields provided.
If you currently have an ePrint Center account, you cannot use the same email address to register
at HP Connected.
Create a password of at least 6 characters in the Create Password text box. Type your
password again in the Confirm Password text box.
Click the checkbox next to, "Yes, I have read and agree to the HP Connected Terms of
Use."
Click Create Account.
A screen welcoming you to HP Connected will appear. Click Continue.
HP Connected will open.
Click the Devices tab at the top of the page.
Click Add a Device.
Using the Web Services information sheet you printed, find the printer's claim code.
Click in the Enter claim code text box and type in your printer's claim code.
Click Add. The prompt, "You have successfully added your printer", will temporarily open.
Locate the unique email address for your printer on the left side of the web page.
Add the address to your email contacts and share it with other authorized users.
You are now ready to send print jobs to your printer from any web-connected device.
HP will send an email to the account you used to register. Before logging into HP Connected
next time, you will need to open the email and click Authorize email address to complete
the verification step.
