This is Joel Block for The Law and You with Eugene attorney Don Corson.
Don, a few years ago we talked about how one of your cases led to better water
safety laws on lakes and rivers. I understand there are even stronger laws now.
Joel, that law was passed to help prevent injuries and drowning deaths by
requiring better equipment and training
for outfitters.
Recently, newer laws focus on life jackets.
Over 90% of Oregon's drowning fatalities were caused by not wearing a
life jacket or not using it properly.
There are new life jacket requirements for both adults and children.
If you don't have a life jacket or forget yours,
McKenzie Fire and Rescue offers loaner life jackets from
McKenzie river floats.
Thanks, Don.
