I'm Robert Charter and I'm a highway maintenance apprentice at Amey.
My apprenticeship involves a whole range of different things.
When I first started the apprenticeship which was about twelve months ago,
they put me on the tools which was working as a team, on the road, and learning about different emergencies which would help me when I get the job.
Amey has provided me with the opportunity to learn and get paid to learn, which will give me a hands-on experience of the job for when I've finished my apprenticeship.
They've also given me the opportunity to work in the office which has taught me different things about the commerical industry.
I would recommend the apprenticeship to anyone, even if they've been working twenty years and want a different career path or they've just come out of school, because it's been amazing.
It's taught me different skills; it's improved my confidence and I've learnt a lot about myself through it.
