(Erwin McManus) Maybe we can't alleviate all human suffering, but
we can alleviate someone's suffering.
Maybe we cannot wipe ever tear, but what if we just stopped one more tear from being shed?
Maybe if we change one life, we can change the course of history...
Maybe if we focus on stopping one person's from suffering, we might stop all suffering.
Maybe if we just do what we can,
you will find enough strength in all that can be done.
Maybe we under estimate
What God can do in us and through us.
I started coming to Mosaic about a year ago.
About 8 years now.
Almost seventeen years.
20 Years. 23 Years. 45 Years.
Pastor Erwin, at the time he wasn't our pastor, he had no podium.
He had no notes. And he
moved me quite a bit
He started speaking, I'm like "WOAH" these words. He's got a certain lingo.
His whole focus seems to be to reach those
don't know Christ and in so doing
through their transformation through their change in their life whatever
gifts they have, somehow
God's gonna then use them. For me, that -- that really is something that's unique.
in an American church today.
(Journalist) The survey of 2000 influential preachers
among their peers
it's got hip-hop and it's got the ultimate
hip pastor. "To start talking to God, be weird, be crazy,
you don't have to talk to him out loud." Welcome to Mosaic church.
Meet Erwin McManus, a Salvadoran immigrant whose Los Angeles-based congregation
is divers and growing. Mosaic rents auditoriums for services
and has no pulpit, but is one of the most influential churches in the United States
Back then, it was like, we were questioned about "How dare you...
take the holiness of God and place in a
nightclub. And as a result of being at the nightclub
downtown, we eventually moved to
the Mayan, and from the Mayan we came to Hollywood.
It's been a great move.
And it really has... Seems to have
affected the whole neighborhood.
This last year has been an amazing moment in our history. Over you know 450 baptism; I don't know if that's the right number
but a lot of baptisms.
It's just been exciting and I know it's just the beginning
There was 82 of us, baptized.
Everybody's spirits just had this 180
shift, I mean, our lives were transformed.
What Mosaic has taught me,
is that your life is your greatest piece of art.
Once you understand that God is real...
how do you not go all in, knowing that truth?
Thank you Erwin and Kim, for choosing us.
Erwin and Kim, your courage to lead this community has created such hope.
I'd like to thank you Erwin for day-in, day-outt, every week bringing that fire
If we can grow this much in a year I don't know where we will be next year
or the year after.
We're ready for it and we've been asking for it.
And I know we can handle the responsibility of thousands and thousands of people.
Coming here because we are so connected to God.
