I think Lights of the Ozarks means a lot to our community and I think it being 22 years
old says a lot. It's definitely a tradition within the community
that year to year families come back to see those lights turn on.
I rely on the students a lot especially during lighting night and I mean essentially they're
putting on this event and I'm allowing them to learn from that
We build relationships with the community. And also give them the opportunity to actually
put into use their planning competencies, organizational competencies, their budgeting
competencies and their production skills of an event of this magnitude.
I have never done anything like this, especially going out into the community and doing what
I would call a service learning project. It gives us the opportunity to go out into
the community, network, and talk to those local businesses and really get those resources
from them and as well as seeing the event come together and seeing the community come
to it. It always goes off great because we have such
great people you know the parks department does a good job and the university does a
good job Walkin' around this light is beautiful, for
me I don't think of any worries, I just think of the beauty of the season and the beauty
of the lights and the joy it brings to me.
