Fantastic Provence with L'Occitane
presents The olive harvest with Olivier Chertier, Moulin du Lubéron in Volx
The olive oil's flavour depends on the moment of the harvest
as well as the type of olive.
The variety of olives we produce here is called aglandau.
The AOC olive oil of Haute Provence is green,
with flavors ranging from raw artichoke to freshly cut hay as well as banana and tomato..
It's a very typical oil of the region.
The aglandau is very resistant to cold weather,
and flourishes in our region.
This olive was brought to Provence at the beginning of the 1st Millenium by the Greeks.
We can produce different types of oils with the olives growing in the region,
with ripe fruité but in this cas the olives must be harvested later.
The result would be an oil with less strength and bitterness.
