July 31 1955, Colonel Parker hired local photographer William V. 'Red' Robertson to shoot a series
of photos of Elvis Presley performing at Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa, Florida.
One shot, commonly referred to as the 'Tonsil' photo, in a cropped version would later be
used as the cover of Elvis' first Elvis Presley LP from RCA in 1956 and was used extensively
in newspaper and print to promote future shows.
August 1 1981, MTV launches and suddenly and without provocation, Video killed the Radio Star
Aug 2 1962, Robert Allen Zimmerman legally became Bob Dylan. It was 16 years later in 1978,
however before he became "Street Legal."
Two men who have made their mark in the jazz world and beyond are celebrating birthdays.
First: Aug 3 1926, Born on this day, legendary singer, and accomplished painter Tony Bennett.

And on Aug 4 1901, Born on this day, Louis Armstrong, one of the most influential musicians
of the 20th Century. Celebrated for his charismatic stage presence and voice almost as much as
