The electrostatic engine is a device which permits to transform electrostatic energy in movement
The device consists on three empty plastic cylinders. The cylinders are covered with foil
The central cylinder is also covered with alternate layers of paper
A pair of copper wire windings are placed up the outer cylinders
The terminals of the windings are placed very close to the central cylinders but not on it
The outer cylinders are connected to the terminals of a power supply
When the power is switched on, one of the cylinder becomes positively charged and the other negatively charged, and an uniform electric field is established between them.
If the electric force exceeds the dielectric force of the air, it becomes an electric conductor
The charge of the outer cylinders is transmitted through the terminals and a spark flies out towards the central cylinder transmitting a charge of the same sign as that of the terminal
Then, a repulsive electric force is originated which gives momentum to the central cylinder, and it revolves around its fixed central axis
Before changing the polarity, the central cylinder is attracted to the terminal with opposite sign charge
The total momentum will be the sum of the momenta corresponding to the attractive and repulsive electrostatic forces on the cylinder
The result is the central cylinder revolves around its fixed axis
