let's discuss the climate change uh... kamisetti made during the cd union he
talks about hot climate change and how it's real and how hot you know these are
real disasters because of our behaviors of secular for the sake of our children
our future
we must do more to combat climate change
defectors
the twelve hundred years on record
have all come in the last fifteen
heat waves
droughts
wildfires
floods
all are now
more frequent and more intense
we can choose to believe that super storms and a m
and the most severe drought in decades
and the worst wildfire has some states have ever seen world estate frequencies
or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science and act
before it's too late
i love that i thought that that was a very strong part of his speech and uh...
i i hope that something actually does get done
uh... in terms of uh... you know our coal industry are will industry
uh... out the heat here
uh... i hope that we can serve mark but it do you think that it's just talk do
you think they'll bomb is actually do something about this because i read
something today about how uh... you know she had proposed at uky missions when it
comes to call
and then he backtracked on that because republican pressure
well there's a lot of things that that that are moving as the moving parts of
this in a way things is that
you know he did asked very explicitly he said it congress does not happen i will
and that's it
that's laying out the gauntlet right there because
the e_p_a_ and the obama administration since two thousand nine have told
the republicans and congress
that if you don't do something via legislation the e_p_a_ will be required
to do so deal law
that we put the e_p_a_ is legally required idea settlement a couple of
different settlements that were brought by environmental groups also
massachusetts verses e_p_a_ the two thousand seven supreme court decision
giving e_p_a_
the authority
to regulate greenhouse gases if they found them to be threat to human health
which frankly climate change is
so when they talk about what is what he's saying is that if congress doesn't
act that he will there's lots that he can do the executive action yes in fact
that the specific when you're talking about is the e_p_a_ thank
what we have now is that the e_p_a_ recently
issued rules support new power plants these are greenhouse gas emissions
standards for
new power plants but they did not issue the ones for the existing power plants
that's the one that they've held off on for two years that almost not there in
about two years ago they backed up and said they were going to postpone them
and so far it's been an indefinite postponement
hey yeah and i'm not okay with that indefinite postponement of course now
there's a lot of news about the uh... keystone pipeline
and how hot you know the majority of our senators have sent a letter basically
urging him to in no voting state not vote in favor but allowed the permit for
the construction of the rest of the pipeline and i guess we'll see what
obama does about that i mean if he allows that day and anything that he
said in that speech was normally activity and yet we forget it you know
that uh... the opponents of the keystone excel pipeline have a massive rallies
scheduled for d_c_ in on february seventeenth that is this sunday this
sunday
that they are going to do another big rally to and get themselves arrested in
the same essentially the sierra club director michael brennan said that you
know if he does not
disallow
the keystone excel pipeline than ever and essentially say that everything else
he says is bach exact again he can make all of these knows he can do the energy
efficiency proposal that you mentioned you know when it is a big deal
uh... our buildings and our cars u xep
there are thirty percent of the emissions of the united states soap
which is just cut down
the waste
and the energy of our buildings all you know we we basically trail the rest of
the world energy efficiency so that's a major deal that he can do and he's
talking about making money available for that mia
some race to the top
grant programs for the states here these are things actually mechanisms that can
actually work so obama does talk about how hard he's willing to work with
congress but if congress is unwilling to work with him and he's not opposed to
executive actions in fact let's take a look if congress road act soon to
protect future generations
help arrived
throughout my captivity up with executive actions we can take him out in
the future
to reduce pollution
prepare our communities for the consequences of climate change and speed
the transition to more sustainable sources of energy
i liked that
that's on top well you know i'm like i said there are things that he can do
you know one of the other things that he mentioned was the infrastructure
spending and he's going to put forth
and require and ask for more spending from congress but you can also establish
spending in grant programs for the state's via the different agencies
administrations so there are things that can be done and these things can make a
huge difference on
don't know if you're wearing this thank you
in the united states we've doubled our wind and solar
over the last four years
it's still not where it could be but we could do allot better we're already
doing a lot better than we were in the bush administration so there's a lot
that can be done
so it will have to just wait and see if he's actually going to do it you know
personally i think that he's done a lot of talk
now action so i'd like to see some of that
