A daring art thief has snatched five masterpieces worth 500 million euros from a Paris museum
in one of the biggest art robberies of all time.
Police say CCTV recorded only one person entering the Museum of Modern Art through a broken
window.
It has left officials to ponder how the thief managed to pull off this audacious breach
of security.
“There are patrols and there is a security headquarters. There are always three people
there permanently in the museum and they were there last night. Clearly, the system has
been overcome as those members of staff did not see a thing.”
Among the pictures snatched are Picasso’s Pigeon with Green Peas and Pastoral by Henri
Matisse.
