Dr. Monson Certainly the good news is that we have therapies that work, and it is a treatable condition.
The biggest predictor of what is going to work is how much you're going to put into it, so it needs to be something that makes sense to you.
I happen to be a practitioner of Cognitive Processing Therapy and have seen it work and believe that it's an important offering for patients,
but certainly there are other therapies that work as well.
Dr. Galovski ...but most importantly, I think it would make a lot of sense for the client to be presented with what each therapy looks like,
and then really see if there's something that really seems to hit home with that particular client,
because I think that whatever works is really an informed consumer decision.
Dr. Friedman Quite frankly, from my perspective, if a person is thinking about psychotherapy, and trained psychotherapists are available,
I would encourage them to try to do the therapy rather than medication just because the therapy, on balance is more effective than medication.
