A Kanye diss, an Andy Samberg reunion, and the Harlem Shake all make it into Justin Timberlake’s
fifth hosting run on Saturday Night Live. Hey guys, I’m Melana Scantlin and Variety.com
has the highlights.
The highly anticipated return of Justin Timberlake to SNL featured a number of memorable moments,
starting with the all-star comedy parade during his opening monologue. Other 5-timers like
Steve Martin and Tom Hanks joined Dan Aykroyd, Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, Chevy Chase,
Martin Short and Paul Simon-- welcomed the pop star.
Saturday’s episode also marked the return of Timberlake’s “*** in a Box” collaborator
Andy Samberg. The two brought their unique brand of sexy to a new sketch called “It’s
a Date”....
Naturally, Timberlake hit the stage as the musical guest as well...and welcomed a special
surprise guest during his “Suit and Tie” performance.
JT made some headlines when he changed a line to the song "got a hit and picked up a habit,"
to "hit so big, got rappers acting dramatic”....Hmm, I wonder which “rappers” he’s referring
to.
Now, we’ve seen JT as a dancing omelette... a dancing bottle of beer... and a dancing
silicone breast...but Saturday introduced us to a new ‘Ville character, the Harlem
Shaking block of Tofu.
And though Justin Timberlake has starred in a good share of romantic comedies, we’ve
never seen him in anything quite like this.
JT’s fifth hosting turn on SNL this weekend was a ratings hit for the show, pulling in
the most viewers of the season.
The Timberlake takeover continues...as the pop star kicks off his weeklong stint as the
musical guest on Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk show Monday.
