My name is Kátia.
I'm living in Olinda. But I was born in São Paulo.
It's been 12 years since I'm living here now.
In urban style living
I think it's difficult to have even one day go by
without even opening one package.
In some places, like Japan,
here’s a structure for recycling. In Curitiba too.
But here in Olinda, what can we do?
So, here is where I'm sorting things.
I put plastic and paper here,
and over there are the cans and the glass.
For almost every material
I know somebody who wants it.
For plastics there's this guy, I call him my partner.
-Hey, I brought you some new bottles for your business, ok? -Thanks.
As I've been living in Olinda for some years,
I know that nobody wants this kind of package.
People just throw it away.
And then one day I saw somebody who reuses it.
This person is doing really cool stuff with it.
It's a surprise, let's take a look!
We are now up at the 'Sé',
and Eliane here is the one I'm bringing the packages for.
I consider myself more of an environmental refugee.
I was born and I grew up in São Paulo
alongside the Pinheros River.
People from here are still living in a paradise,
but they don't realize the necessity of preserving it.
There are places where we can't get that back.
But here it’s still possible to recuperate,
to preserve, to grow up in good conditions
