So the reason why this is not wanting to stick to the vat is because this piece is so narrow.
There is not a lot of room here to get a good suction going. So in order to deal with that
problem which you will sometimes have, you can just take a little piece of clay and roll
it into a coil and what you want to do is stick this on the vat head and then we are
basically going to throw this down on there and this is going to give a little extra something
to hold that in place. Now we want to check and see if our little ring is big enough by
placing this down and it is just about right. Now again the torch is going to be your friend.
You want to set this up a little bit so it doesn't stick to your lid. So you want to
take your torch and turn it on and once you have got it going you will just set this little
chuck ring, it is called a chuck ring, up a little bit enough so that when you flip
the lid back on top of it it is not going to stick to it. But that's all you don't have
to get it really hard. You just don't want it sloppy. Okay, it feels pretty good. Now
we are ready to go ahead and do that trimming again.
