New Order!
Thanks
Hello!
Hello. How are you? Good thanks. How are you? I've always liked being
around people so I decided on a career in hospitality.
Cheers!
Being a waitperson is fun. You get to meet all types of people.
More wine, sir?
Shifts can vary from four to eight hours but it depends when the last customer leaves.
That's when I go home.
T-bone? Thank you very much.
Good evening. How are you tonight? Well, thank you. Could we please have a table for two? Certainly. Come on through.
Thank you.
Would you like to place a drink order?
Certainly. My wife would like a glass of Coke and I'd like a glass of dry white wine, please.
The hours can be a bit hard at times, especially
when your friends are out enjoying themselves.
But then, I get days off during the week so that's great.
And the money's good.
I started work at 6.30 this morning.
Hi, Sue. How are you? Hi. Great. Thank you.
I wonder if there are any messages?
Breakfast's at 7.00 so I must have everything prepared before the guests arrive.
I make sure the restaurant looks good
and see that everything is in its place.
It's important to create a good atmosphere.
People remember that.
Just your signature, thanks, sir.
You need to be a people person in this industry.
If you don't like working with people, then it's not for you.
I started out in cafes, making sandwiches and serving coffee.
There's nothing like the smell of fresh coffee first thing in the morning.
Hi. How are you today? Hi, Bec. How are you? Good, thank you.
That's good. Food looks lovely as always. Yes.
Have you been busy? Yes, we have this morning. It's been great.
I did resort training which prepared me for this job.
You need to know how the industry works.
especially if you want to further your career. A good place to start would be TAFE.
They have some great courses and industry trained people.
There's a couple of extras that have been added in there.
I'm currently being trained by the food and beverage manager. I'm also second-in-charge so we usually work together.
I like teamwork. It makes everyone's job easier.
When you share the same goals and objectives, you create a closer working relationship with staff.
Companies and organisations use our facilities for their seminars and presentations.
I receive a job brief from the food and beverage manager explaining what needs to be done.
Polishing silver -- my pet hate and glasses, even worse.
I guess the only thing I hate about the job is the polishing
but it does look great when the cutlery shines and the glasses sparkle.
Whether a hotel guest or a visitor, at the end of the day you want people to leave satisfied.
Thank you very much indeed for your service.
It's all about providing a better service and meeting their needs.
