the program is quite new students
are very motivated and very active and
very collegial and collaborative with one another that they perform quite close
network switches
is exciting to see there's three streams
a in our graduate program there's the healthstream
there's the developmental stream and there is the neuroscience
flash perception cognitive stream we're situated
on the Trent Severn Waterway and
our campus is split on either side
this waterway it's a beautiful setting and students when they come with their
parents and friends I think that's the first
comment that they they all make. I think a successful
psychology grad student has to be organized
disciplined... and have a balance
though at the same time in their life so so I think that camaraderie
is is very important to
their success as well as they're very close contact with their faculty member
I think
I think most faculty me with their students on a weekly basis
they both chart out, sort of
a game plan
and and set goals and I think I think that's
helps their success. A lot of other programs are just
you know go do your work then leave but I definitely feel like trent
is such a community and everybody
just worked together and create an environment where
you have so many support you know like there are so many faculty
members here at that I would feel comfortable you know just going up to
them and
if I had any questions about anything
my projects, the program, their research
anything if I had any questions there's a number of them that and I
are just so friendly that I've worked with and I've been lucky enough to be
able to work with a number of them
I'm projects outside of my thesis as well
one of the most important things about are
masters program is the close contact students develop with their faculty
member
So they work very closely one-on-one
with with faculty the members where
it that may not be the case at larger universities
the other thing to do our students attract funds
for their research. so I ended up getting funding
from CIHR a which is the Canadian Institute
for Health Research and they're gonna fund my first year
of my graduate school. I was funded by OGS
which is the Ontario graduate scholarship and
yeah I received that for my second year as well. So I was really lucky in that
both the years I've been a trent that had full funding
external to the University and then
also trent on the program offers you I teaching assistantship package which
basically pays for your tuition
so you work for professor here and you
you know many mark papers or lead seminars
I got to lecture which was amazing, it was such a good experience everything
for this wonderful prof, it was so amazing
I actually I meet a little evaluation forms for the students because I believe
the seminars and I have been evaluating their presentation
the whole semester and I guess
I thought it only fair that they would be able to have the opportunity to evaluate
me
the prof and all the students loved it so, and it was such helpful feedback to
like it was amazing
so yeah that was a great experience.
