Hello! With many cities
across America, how do you know
which cities are "Deaf-Friendly"
for deaf people?
If you are traveling to a city, moving, or considering a new job,
researching or finding information on any city
is easy to find. For example,
how many people live in the city,
list of places to go, activities and things to do,
list of jobs, and what jobs are generally available.
But where are key information
that a deaf person needs to know about the city?
Deaf411, a deaf marketing and public relations company,
has been researching and collecting information.
Deaf411 announced the project in April 2008 with a mini website
and online survey.
For one year, over 3,700 people
participated in the online survey.
We collected information on what is important
to deaf people.
Is it jobs? Schools? Captioned movies, religious,
social or sporting events?
Interpreting services, and what else?
From these 3,700 responses, we identified and made a list
of many cities across America.
We split the list into 4 regions:
West, East, South & Midwest.
We then selected 7 cities from each region
and sent follow up surveys
to compile additional information.
After reviewing this information on which
cities should be most "Deaf-Friendly" cities,
we selected 5 cities in each region.
This Report, "Deaf-Friendly Cities in the U.S.",
is now available free... at no charge.
The Report includes an in-depth report
on one city in each region,
features about the city,
what the city has to offer,
and why it fits deaf people.
There is also a grid listing 5 cities in
each region.
There is also a list of community
contact information in each in-depth City.
There are photos showing settings that are
considered "Deaf-Friendly" to deaf consumers
or travelers.
This Report is not a definitive answer
as to which cities are most "Deaf-Friendly.
The Report is intended to help you get
more information to help you determine
what is important to you...
and if you consider the city as "Deaf-Friendly"
while keeping an open mind to other cities.
Please let your family, friends and co-workers
know about this Report.
