The Liberty project is
the first of its kind in the country and its
very exciting. It's going to be great for the community of
Liberty. And it's going to fit the community.
It's gonna be a great economic development piece.
All the things that we easily value
There's gonna be economic development. There's gonna be jobs. There's gonna be
all the things that people latch onto first.
But the most important thing it's gonna bring is
increased community health.
And, in that realm
of improved community health, a whole new script of how
people are going to age together in Liberty
not only together with their peers
and with their families, but
with the broader community. It's going to be a
place, it's going to be a village
where if I do have a chronic illness
I could still seek and find
wellness and well-being.
That's never really been systematically approached. We've talked about it.
Policies are being formed around it. Very few
in the old medical model
of treating illness have truly embraced
a real on the ground
integrated aligned
system that literally
focuses on you and your well-being.
And this project does that. It's unusual that you can get an alignment
between key players of this nature
who will get on one song sheet
and understand that everybody's rules
are going to have to change. Everybody's methodologies are going to have to
integrate.
Which means everyone of us are gonna have to do things differently. And
in this particular case in Liberty, Missouri there is an alignment
a key participants who have made that decision
and are now moving from thought to words
to now planning, to action. So the result
of that is going to be the creation of a project
that marries with the acute care hospital with Liberty Hospital
who currently provides the acute care service,
in the community of Liberty, along with
the physician network, and all its specializations
and is now moving
to broaden, in partnership with Healthy Living Centers of America and
Action Pact
to create
additional dimensions and
continuum flow of services that will transition
the physician and acute care system from not just
an effective treater of
illness, which we must continue to have, to
being partners in and drivers in creating
true wellness. It's one thing to say,
you know, we really need more senior living services in Liberty
let's go get some. And there's a whole process around how many communities do
that
It's one thing to recognize the need. But it's yet again another,
for a community, led by
the hospital and its physicians, to say
we need senior living and senior services in Liberty, Missouri
but we will have and we will organize around
having senior living of a distinctly different nature
so that in Liberty, Missouri we will
age on our own terms, in the most pleasant of environments,
with the best of services that could join
with the hospital the physician and the healthy living center
to ensure that people not only live as healthy
and have as deep a sense of well-being as possible physically,
but that the environments
are of such a nature
that people maintain a deep sense of home
and self and satisfaction and well-being
in every other dimension of their being.
That's significant!
