My interest in fashion...
What I remember is...
that I went shopping with my mother for clothes for a piano recital at kindergarten.
I remember saying what I wanted to wear myself.
That's my oldest memory related to "fashion."
I don't think I was really aware of it at the time...
But when we went shopping together I'd say, "I want to wear this, I want to wear that."
Even now I remember that it wasn't really provided to me, but that I selected myself what I liked.
My style now. What can I say?
Until now, I've worn different styles, including high fashion.
There was a period that I liked that.
For a time I wore only monotone clothes.
But eventually I realized that I like colorful styles.
Like this kind of pop style.
When I focused on the kind of things that I like it became this kind of fashion...
- Naturally.
Yes.
The place where I grew up is in the middle of nowhere...
so there were no trendy boutiques at all.
So I really wanted to move to Tokyo.
When I read a lot of magazines,
there were a lot of ads in the back of these magazines for vocational schools.
I really enjoyed reading the comments written by graduates
currently enrolled students, and the like.
When I go to such a vocational school, I thought, I can definitely lead a trendy life, too.
So I totally made up my mind to go to Tokyo and study at a fashion academy.
Well, I listened to what my high school teachers had to say, and their advice,
and I ended up going to university.
When I first saw AVANTGARDE stockings,
I was electrified.
It was something I had never seen before,
I found it fascinating.
At first I saw them as a customer, who enjoyed them myself.
Then, when I met and talked with the owner (of AVANTGARDE)...
I discovered that he is a fascinating person.
There happened to be an opening at the shop,
and I started working there.
As I started working with him, I found his way of thinking really interesting.
He has this spirit that nothing is impossible.
These tights, if you align your legs...
it becomes a cartoon character.
Usually, there would be a Daisy on one leg, and one more Daisy on the other
I find the idea to print her in parts, awesome.
It has now become normal,
but it is really original, right?
Kitty-chan is printed like that, too.
I really like leg wear,
so I want to continue introducing different kinds of leg wear.
For example, layering stockings, and stuff like that.
I would like to find and introduce new ways to enjoy fashion.
- Oh, I'm sure you can.
Really?
- Yes, I'm looking forward to it.
Thank you very much!
