Hi everyone. Melissa here at Cloudmom.com. Talking today about Legos. I put, post up
on my Facebook a couple of months ago asking friends, "What do you do in your house when
it comes to Legos because what we were doing really wasn't working?" We were buying these
Legos for Christmas and birthday presents. My kids were making them one time and then
they were sitting back in the original box and no one was playing with them. So I come
with a plan for how to get your kids to use your Legos more often, more freely, more creatively,
I hope, and here's what I have done, done and I've been working on this for a lot of
the summer. Number one, I've just taken all the original Legos out of the boxes, thrown
away the boxes to save space, put the instructions in a separate place. Number two, I have disassembled
all the Legos. This has taken a really long time. I've been doing it at night while I
watch TV, taking them all apart. And number three, and this is optional, you can just
dump 'em into a bin, but what I do and what I have done and this may not last, okay, we
just finished this project, I put them in containers which I bought at Walmart with
good, good latches on the top and I've organized them by color. Okay? So being like totally
OCD I'm in like heaven this whole thing. Okay? It just appeals to all my inner instincts.
Here's a gray one. Do you believe it? I feel like we have won the lottery. We had all these
toys sitting there right under our fingers and we haven't even been using them all these
years. Here's a red one. Okay. And I like these boxes, they're Sterilite and here's
the latch, so my little two year old can't just go and open the top. It closes shut.
I got to close it better. So anyway, this is what we're doing with Legos, here it is
closed. In my house I've got some other pictures that I've put up on Facebook. I wanna hear
if you have other ideas. I'm really looking forward to the fact that my boys can now be
a bit more creative when it comes to Lego and they won't just be building what's on
the box but they'll be thinking of things on their own and coming up with more creative
ideas or so I hope. Please let me know what you think and what you do in your house and
thank you so much for watching.
