Hey everyone today i'm going to show you how i fixed my shoes
this was my go to pair of sandals during our super hot summer
i practically wore it everyday and when it broke i was super super sad
i can see that they're not super quality shoes but
it was really pretty and they're really comfortable to wear so i wanted to get them fixed
i took it to the shoe repair guy
i only paid about $30 when i bought these brand new
and he quoted me $20 to get it fixed
but $20 was a bit too much for something i only paid $30 for
so...i just went pssss i'll just glue it back myself
i went ahead and bought myself some shoe glue
you don't have to get this particular brand but
just make sure it's for shoes and that it is flexible glue
because when we walk the sole bends and curves
so you want the glue to be able to keep up with your activities
this one i got is also waterproof so if it rains i know they're not going to fall apart on me anytime soon
Here is what you will need
Flexible shoe glue
a clip big enough to clip your shoes or if you have a clamp that will do too
a little brush to apply the glue
i'm using a square synthetic nail art brush
i've got some nail polish remover
just so you know we're not painting our nails today
first make sure the area you are working with is clean
if there are left over glues you can use nail polish remover to clean it off
as you can see pretty much the entire heel of my shoe has come undone
and there is a piece of material that used to go in between the sole and the shoe
so in my case all i need is some glue to stick it back in
alrighty i have my new pack of glue here
and i'm just going to use the back of the cap to puncture an opening
i'm going to start with the top section once i've glue the top i'll move onto the bottom layer
the instruction mentioned that the glue has about 5 minutes before it starts to bond
and it will take about an hour to completely cure
so since i'm going to secure the loose piece to both the top and bottom layer
i'll have to move fast
ideally you will want to apply the glue to the entire surface of the piece you want to stick
and on both of the surfaces
but since i want to save some glue for my other shoe
i'm just going to concentrate on the edges
then if i have some to spare i will apply it to the middle
but the edges are the most important because if it rips again it will start from the sides
so after i've done the top i'm going to move straight onto the bottom layer
you'll notice that the top will still slide around so try not to get the glue on your hands in the mean time
same with the bottom layer
apply the glue on the edge make sure you cover as much as you can
then apply some in the middle as well
once you're done stick everything into place and press firmly
now use your clip or clamp and hold the shoe in place for it to dry
now you just have to wait
check back after an hour or so or leave it over night for the glue to completely cure
if you want to know how the glue is going
just have a look at your brush
you should be able to tell whether it's dried or not
and as you can see the glue is dry and it's flexible
if you want to use the brush again you can soak it in nail polish remover to get the glue out
here is what my shoe looks like after a couple of hours
i think it looks pretty good
i definitely will be able to get a few more wear out of them
not too bad right? the glue cost me about $8 so
i saved $12 dollars
and managed to squeeze a video out of this experience
what do you think? does it deserve a thumbs up?
hopefully you've found this video helpful
next time your beloved shoes break you might be able to save it
