When I first began I had weighed 208 pounds.
When I hit 150 I told myself that's it, stop, no more.
Today I weigh 149.6.
I like to say that I blame my husband
for putting on the weight.
We would get a pizza and to not leave any leftovers,
I would just finish the whole thing.
She would just try to keep up with me
and it was just overeating.
I like to blame him but ultimately
I know I could have stopped myself.
One day at work my coworkers
decided to do a weight challenge.
He downloaded an app on his iPhone
and he went to theā¦ not extreme because it's
not bad, it's not hard to do, but of measuring his food.
Me being the competitive person that I am,
I went for the gusto and went all in with it.
If I'm going to take the time and we're going
to measure his food, might as well measure mine.
So I just joined and started doing it with him.
And the secret of my success is my wife.
I don't think we would have been nearly
as successful doing it alone.
It ultimately comes down to portion control.
We do eat still what we want, we can still have pizza,
we can still have ice cream.
But it really is taking the time to measure it or to stop
yourself after one or two pieces.
We go for walks around our block, around our neighborhood
we live next to some really great open space.
We also do biking, so to mix it up instead of just doing the
treadmill and stationary bike here at our house,
when the weather gets nicer
we do take the bikes out and that's just been great.
Once we started losing the weight
I actually felt a lot healthier.
I feel a lot better about myself.
We no longer fit in our old clothes.
We're smaller now than when we got married.
I think just about anybody with a little bit of
support and commitment can lose the weight.
If we could take the 30 minutes of workout time
we would do a day, the measuring and still continue
to eat foods we enjoy, anybody can do it.
