before you begin this repair make sure the engine has cooled
removed the wire and boot from the spark plug or plugs
then disconnect the cables from the battery black first then red
you should do this repair with little or no gasoline in the tank
your first step is to use locking pliers or a fuel line clamp to close the fuel
line
then released the clamp and pull the fuel line off
be aware some gasoline may spill out
next use a socket to remove the nut securing the air filter housing
detach the breather tube and pull the housing off
slide the old carburetor and gaskets off the mounting bolts and rotate the
carburetor upward to detach the throttle and choke linkages
install the new carburetor by first positioning the rear gasket
next attach the throttle and choke linkages to the new carburetor
slide the carburetor onto the bolts and position the front gasket
reposition the air filter housing and insert the breather tube into the rocker
cover
secure the nuts
reconnect the fuel line
secure the clamp
and remove the locking pliers or fuel line clamp
with the new carburetor in place you can now reconnect the battery cables red
first then black
finally reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug or plugs
