>> Elliott: Hi there, welcome to SourceFed, I’m Elliott Morgan
>> Lee: I’m Lee Newton.
>> Elliott: Social media sites are no strangers to big interface changes whether it be Facebook’s
introduction of the newsfeed or YouTube’s forcing of the google plus.
>> Lee: Find something and hold on tight, because it looks like Twitter is getting in
on the overhaul pie. In fact, some of you might have even noticed a change already.
Twitter is thinking about getting rid of the “at sign” or as my mom calls it “the
A circle”
>> Elliott: The symbol has become almost synonymous with Twitter, so why would they do something
as audacious as getting rid of it? For the same reason any company changes anything.
MONEY.
>> Lee: It’s true, looking at Twitter’s growth over the quarter it’s seemed to have
plateaued adding only one million new users in the US. In addition, around 1 billion people
have tried twitter and then stopped using it.
>> Elliott: So, while the concept of Twitter makes sense to those who are computer savvy,
it seems as if the company would like to expand to a broader audience who might look at symbols
like the “at symbol” and hashtags like a foreign language.
>> Lee: There’s no denying that there is a slight learning curve when starting on Twitter,
but many users find it to be endearing and unique to the service, offering shortcuts
for communication. But from a business standpoint, when a CEO sees that one billion people aren’t
having it, it can raise some eyebrows.
>> Elliott: What do you guys think about losing the “at symbol” do you trust that Twitter
knows what it’s doing, or will it drive you away from the site? Let us know in the
comments down below. Don’t forget to like this video, subscribe to the channel and you
