DARE TO BE DIFFERENT! What were you saved from? Who are you now?
And where are you destined to go from here? Who were you before you got called into faith?
Why are you different now that you are in faith? What makes all the difference? - 1st
Corinthians 1:30, Ephesians 2:12-13. The precious blood of Jesus made all the difference. Why
am I different and why should I be different? - Let me introduce you to a man called Caleb
who had a different spirit in him. [Numbers 14: 24]- Jesus died for me to be different.
Period! "According to Dictionary of American Regional
English; Dare means: 1. to have the boldness to try; venture; hazard. 2. to meet defiantly;
face courageously. 3. to challenge or provoke (a person) into a demonstration of courage;"
Dare is: To challenge (someone) to do something requiring boldness"... it is to be courageous
or bold enough to do or try something... "An act of daring; a challenge..." [Answers.com].
Dare means To have adequate or sufficient courage for any purpose; to be bold or venturesome;
not to be afraid; to venture. [Confucius institute]. The Synonyms: "1. DARE, VENTURE imply involvement
in risks and dangers. DARE emphasizes the state of mind that makes one willing to meet
danger: He dared to do what he knew was right. VENTURE emphasizes the act of doing something
that involves risk: He ventured into deep water. 2. hazard, risk, brave."[Dictionary.com]
Different means: "not alike in character or quality; differing; dissimilar: The two are
different. 2. not identical; separate or distinct. not ordinary; unusual." According to Free
dictionary "Different" means: 1. Unlike in form, quality, amount, or nature; dissimilar:
took different approaches to the problem. 2. Distinct or separate."
My definition: To Dare something means to brave something...it is to try to be another
being...it is to decide against the norm, to go against the status quo, to reject the
normal. It is to strive for the extraordinary life. It is to have the guts to be poles apart
with all appearance of evil in your thoughts and lifestyle! [See Daniel 1:8. Numbers 14:
24] The difference is not different until the difference is clear. You are not different
until it is obvious, noticeable, and evident. With every difference comes a sacrifice. It
must be noted that your difference will bring you rejection! But With every difference is
a reward! I am here to talk about these 3 scopes of
being different. 1. The sacrifice of being different. [Romans
12: 1-2, Hebrews 12:1-4] 2. The rejection of being different. [ John
6:66 ] 3. The reward of being different. [1st Corinthians
15:19, Ephesians 1:18-19, 1 Corinthians 9:24- 27, Hebrews 11:6]
If you are still asking: how can I be different? • I can only be different firstly on
the inside, and then my difference will translate, show on to the outside. In how I renew my mind with God's
word. By making my heart becomes the seat
of God. • In how I change from my wicked and sinful ways to
serve the living God. Giving my life to Jesus. Rededicating myself to Jesus. Serving the
cause of the kingdom. Identifying with the believers as a fellow citizen with the saints. In my relationship with God. In my
daily communion with the Holy Spirit Being different means what?
• It means Going from good to great! It means becoming a standard. It means sacrifice
• It means breaking barriers. It means striving to be better than this. It means living a
life that is beyond limits Why should I be different?
• I am a chosen generation. Christ bought me back unto God with His blood. I am shaped
for significance...I have been created as His workmanship unto good works.
Is there any price to pay for being different? • It is rejection. I need an understanding of who
I am in Christ to be able to handle rejection. Handling rejection will require embracing
the cross of Christ in its entirety. Is there any example of those who were different?
Daniel and the three Hebrew boys, Jesus Christ in His hour of temptation, Paul during the
shipwreck. [Daniel 1: 3-5]. These are examples of those
who paid the price of being different in one way or
the other in history and modern day: Martin Luther King Jnr. When his house was bombed
during civil rights movement. Barack Obama; when every circumstance said it
was impossible for
a Black to win presidential election in the USA.
• And You? Fill in the gap. How differently do you
want
to be remembered? What difference do you want to make? [Ecclesiastes 12:1-5, Acts 7:22,
John 6: 63-69, John 6:26-29, John 21:25.]
Speech delivered on March 26, 2010 to: The Youth Fellowship
