AACSB accreditation is the indicator of quality for business programs globally.
Union University is an excellence-driven institution
and this was a way of ensuring excellence in the school of business.
We started the process of attaining accreditation with AACSB 10 years ago.
Our faculty voted unanimously to pursue this accreditation
because we felt it was the right thing to do.
It's been a process that has involved every person in the department.
They have to see demonstrated excellence before they award accreditation.
It ensures a process of ongoing improvement in all the significant areas of the program itself
so faculty qualification, learning outcomes and students, all the way down to the physical facilities
that we have available for students, all those sorts of things,
are evaluated by an independent, outside group of auditors.
The great thing about the AACSB structure is that it's an ongoing process
so we'll continue to assess our effectiveness.
It makes it a little easier for our students to get in to a grad program
or to get a better position with an employer somewhere in the world.
They're not looking just for the letters after somebody's name.
They look a little deeper than that.
They want to know where did that credential come from and not all credentials are created equal.
The fact that we can demonstrate accreditation
by the world's leading accrediting agency for business schools
means that they're going to be taken more seriously than people who lack that distinction.
The program meets the gold standard globally for business education.
