having given the flexibility at Bates to do a much broader range of things
rather than being stuck in a certain track or certain set of like core curriculum
for the first, necessarily two years which I saw in a lot of other colleges.
Whereas at Bates I felt like I could kind of go anywhere, do anything that I
wanted, and in the end aggregate all of that into something that was
interesting and useful to me.
Again, I wish I kind of had thought about that earlier and done more of that
than I did. But it certainly set me up on a path of saying you know what you
don’t have to swallow sort of the standard method or the standard process.
Make your own way and it actually will work out better for you in the end.
