LG is the client and they want to have a kiosk, and it is in the corner of this huge mall,
kind of like the "Mall of America"-ish type thing here in America. And it's Co-Ex Mall,
and there is a lot of traffic from the subway. They want you to include service, a place
for download and then purchase of cell phones and accessories.
Korean students will design for one of the largest malls, in Crown Center, Kansas City,
and our students will design similar size or more in downtown Seoul, Korea. So, I know
they have a Polycom, so we have a Polycom, that's why it's easy to connect in the video
conferencing.
They included a lot of information about Korea in general, what the people are like, about
their culture. They included things about the historical buildings there, technology
that they use. They talked about Seoul, Korea. They talked about food and they also did a
presentation on kiosks and the company LG.
We had to design a kiosk with a 270 cm by 270 cm footprint. It had to be able to deconstruct
to fit into a standard double door at night to be stored away. The site for the kiosk
is in Korea, Seoul, Korea.
We worked a lot with how it's going to be powered. We worked with how ů researching
different solar-powered ů to fit on top of the roof and the direction it needs to be
to actually receive the power.
To attract people we included this large LCD screen on this side so you would see advertisements
for LG as you were getting off of the subway.
But we also looked at how the human user is going to work within the space and reach objects.
And, so we put a bench back here for anyone that is kind of frail and needs to sit down
while viewing the products.
I hope they learned the different types of design approach, design ideas and solutions,
and design techniques, as well as the design processing.
