ow ehh
well if you are watching this video somebody lost there temper and they took it out on the wall
I'm gonna show you how to fix that
some tools you'll need include a utility knife
drywall joint tape
drywall screws various taping knives 14" and 3" are the most useful
electric drill
scrap wood preferably 1"x1"
sanding block or a fine grit sand paper quick set joint compound
a square and measuring tape and a pencil
our first step is to cut out a square just larger than our pre existing hole
so we can easily fit in another piece of drywall
so lets go ahead and do that
after marking out a square slightly larger than the hole
they make cuts from from corners so the drywall breaks cleanly
now cut out a square the same size as the hole from some scrape drywall
making sure its the same thickness
alright that patch is going to fit now you can remember we don't need to have it exact
because we're gonna be filling the joint with compound and covering that with tape
but now we need to do a little trick my dad taught me
and thats to mount this into the hole
to create a backing for our patch
now apply the drywall tape
use a straight edge and utility knife to score the drywall
now we mix up some joint compound i like to use the twenty minute quick set which means it's
going to set up
nice and hard in twenty minutes which is really fast
you can get a forty five minute if you have a larger job
or there is even a premixed thats ready to go right out of the tub
so lets go ahead and show you how to mix this up
take a small amount of joint compound
pour it in your bucket then just add a little bit of water and work it in
what you're looking for is a thick mud like consistancy
now use a large knife to smooth out the joint compound
once your joint compound has dried use a sanding block our fine grit sand paper
to smooth out the patch
all right and that's pretty easy job
now all this needs is a fresh coat of paint and you're done
