Dog breeder with hardy feet Imelda Angehrn walks on soft soles
Imelda Angehrn runs a dog-breeding kennels in Switzerland.
Her new breed, the “Continental Bulldog”, is nationally recognised.
Imelda Angehrn can pick and choose who gets to buy her dogs.
It's the best thing there is, being able to choose not to give someone a dog.
When I feel like it isn't the right placement.
They don't have to go: we have enough staff and space here.
I can even keep dogs here for quite a while until
I find the right people for them.
It seems as if Imelda Angehrn is on the right track wit her breed:
she is meeting a need felt by dog lovers.
Her cross between an English Bulldog and an Old English Bulldog
is popular and well received among dog owners.
Much better than we thought!
There are now already more than 4,000 “Conties”.
The owners absolutely love the dogs' nature.
Their health.
And they are just the right size for a family dog, too.
The important thing for us breeders is to make sure our dogs behave well.
That they're sociable.
Have strong nerves to survive modern times.
The Continental Bulldog's nature means it is not listed anywhere
as a dangerous dog.
To present her new breed,
Imelda Angehrn often visits dog shows, meaning she is on her feet all day.
That's why she is so happy to have the air-cushion kyBoot
shoe as her trusty, comfortable companion.
Before I always used to take off my shoes as soon as the exhibition
...was over ... and get into my “driving shoes”.
With the kyBoot I keep them on: they're comfortable.
For Imelda Angehrn the shoe's soft, supple sole took some getting used to at first.
At the start I was very tired.
After two or three hours I had a tired feeling in my legs.
Now I don't get that any more, even if I spend all day standing in the shoes.
I think you need different muscles and tendons than
with “normal” shoes.
Well, that's my interpretation, as a layperson!
In the kyBoot, your deep muscles are exercised,
restoring your natural posture.
The special shoes cost just under 300 Swiss francs.
The dog breeder never thought twice about the price.
If I like something, I'll go ahead and buy it, if I want it.
I'll make do without something else.
But if I really want something then I'll get it, even if it costs a bit.
She has never regretted buying her kyBoot shoes.
People have asked me whether it is worth buying such expensive shoes.
So I say that it's definitely worth it,
as you don't need any others, except maybe a fancy pair.
The kyBoot is just perfect for dog owners;
at least that is how Imelda Angehrn sees it.
Once you've got used to it you have a really firm footing.
We have strong dogs!
When you're walking two males and just have a pair of sandals on,
that's really no good!
I have a firm footing.
And it doesn't hurt if they stand on my shoes with their claws!
I like wearing the shoes when walking the dogs.
It will be a few more sleeps before she
can take her
latest litter for a walk, too...
